Still Mad About My Mixer After All of These Years

You may have noticed a new picture on the left, on the sidebar, over there. It is the dream mixer - KitchenAid's 90th Anniversary edition. I saw this mixer in person when Mom and I visited Philadelphia last fall. We had a most marvelous time. We spied this beauty of a mixer in the Williams-Sonoma store. Only the lack of money made it easier to walk away. Also, the airlines might not have appreciated a large mixer box as a carry on.

From this point on, we were determined to own the glass bowl for our own mixers. Last weekend, while shopping with LibbyLu and Mom at an outlet center, we ran across 1 (one) glass bowl in a kitchen store. One! Mom bought it. She is happy. You can read about her joy here. I still have my metal bowl.

Now, don't get me wrong. I still love my mixer, more than you can know. These mixers are one of the finest products made. Mom's is over thirty years old and mine is 26 years old. Some 21-year-old chickies go out and drink on their big birthday. Not me. I bought myself a mixer. My mixer is blue. I still love it. It works great and has helped me decorate many a birthday cake.

But, I have been inspired to dream for the red mixer, to not be discouraged or daunted - to go for it! Jodi, at Pleasant Home found a way to make her mixer dreams come true through Swag Bucks. It is so simple to do. By using the Swag Bucks toolbar on my browser I earn Swag Bucks for searching with their browser. It took Jodi ten months to save. Click here to read about her adventure. I signed up under her name to thank her for the inspiration. I hope you will find this a fun way to dream big. Choose something you want, browse ways of getting it via Swag Bucks and sign up. Don't forget to blog about it. I would love to hear what you are working toward. What are you dreaming of?

  2. Hooray! GOOD LUCK! I know you can do it! ;o)

  3. I love my Kitchenaid mixer. My sister used to work for them and I got an incredible deal. It's been a good 20 years and I'm still baking away!

  4. Hi Kelly!

That red Kitchen Aid is SO PRETTY!! And the glass bowl makes it even better!!! But don't get me wrong, I still love my old white one...;-) So ugly I made a cover for it...:-) ( on my blog)

Maybe a glass bowl will make it even better??? I wonder if they make one for model K45?

  5. I'm still dying to just have one Kitchen aid mixer! Unfortunately they're somewhat pricier in Australia (~$700) I nearly cried when I was in the US last year and saw them for 250! I couldn't get one because our power is different.

  6. Those mixers are works of art aren't they? Like pieces of sculpture. I always think that the tools you use are so important, and good tools can make a job, whether it's painting or cooking, a real pleasure. Love Vanessa xxx
