VTT - Hotpads and a Great Giveaway!

My new friend and kindred spirit, Susan, over at Not Quite June Cleaver has posted about this wonderful giveaway at Apron Memories Blog. I am looking forward to your entry Susan! Here is mine which happens to also qualify for my Vintage Thingies Thursday post. I love it when things like that happen.

I love vintage crocheted hot pads. I own nearly a dozen or so now and am always on the look out for more. I have a couple hanging on the wall in my kitchen. I love the little dresses. So girly and just as they should be.

Some remind me of snowflakes. I am quite fond of snowflakes, except when Mother Nature pampers me with a week of warm tennis weather and then pulls back the Spring curtain for a snow storm – I will update you on Saturday, but tonight I am having a bit of sinus trouble, so snow may really be on the way. The day is gloomy as evidenced by the pictures - sorry.

I use my hot pads, but miss them when they are put away. Instead of the traditional kitchen valances on my kitchen windows, I have placed these lacey delights in the top panes. They look great inside and out.

I was hoping to find some vintage embroidered towels to create the café portion of the curtains, but winning this great giveaway might just supply me with the inspiration that I need to re-create my own. Check it out...

Also, do not forget to stop by and visit Suzanne at Colorado Lady for Vintage Thingies Thursday.

specially the little dress. "Back in the Day", I remember my mother and the ladies making these same potholders and hot plate mats. Thank you for the sweet memories.

  6. The Kitchen book is on my wish list--I saw it at Barnes & Noble last month and have held out this long. LOL. Nice collection of potholders. All the vintage kitchens had them.

  13. Now who is the clever one hanging those pot holders in the window? I may have to go digging as I have several of these. They would look lovely hanging on the lower portion of my kitchen window that has the vintage tablecloth as a window topper.

I am going to get Mary Ellyn's newest book. Can't wait. I always have a stash of her Apronisms to tuck in apron pockets when I gift them.
