National Tie One on Day

I know that many people around the country are tying on an apron for Thanksgiving. This year, for the first time in a long time, I am not cooking. We are moving and thanks to my most gracious mother we are eating. Thank you, Mom.

I did manage to bake two pies for the pie giveaway at my daughter's school. I mixed the pie at the new house and baked it at the old. Our gas oven will not be hooked up for another week making pie baking a bit of a challenge. It was much like a Lucy show to watch it all happen.

Each class donates two pies which are laid out on a big table in the teacher's lounge the day before Thanksgiving break. Each teacher and staff member chooses a pie to take home with her. It is great fun to watch them bully their way through the process, seeking the most desired pies. Libby was quick to tell her teacher which pies were mine, so Ms. R. could make her claim early in the day. She chose the pie I had wrapped in a vintage apron for National Tie One On Day. I know it was supposed to be bread....but when you live in a Lucy show like I do...

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving! ~Kelly
